We are proud to announce the Psychology of Thinking and Comprehension: International Meeting in Honour of Juan Antonio García Madruga, to be held in Madrid, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th, November 2017.

We invite scholars and researchers from various areas (e.g., thinking, reasoning, language, comprehension, and others) to attend and participate in the meeting. We invite you to give presentations orally or by posters of original research on main topics.

Juan A. García Madruga (León, 18 de diciembre de 1948) es catedrático de Psicología Evolutiva y de la Educación en la UNED y autor de numerosas publicaciones sobre cognición y desarrollo.
Estudió en los colegios de Jesuitas de Valladolid y León, y en las Universidades de Oviedo y Complutense de Madrid, donde se licenció en Psicología en febrero de 1972. En la Universidad Complutense, en 1976 presentó la memoria de licenciatura (“El papel de Vygotsky en el estudio de las relaciones entre pensamiento y lenguaje”) y en 1981 la tesis doctoral (“Modelos de razonamiento silogístico”), ambas bajo la dirección de Juan Delval.
Ha colaborado con numerosos investigadores españoles, así como de otros países europeos y de Estados Unidos. Tras su estancia en la universidad de Cambridge (1987), ha colaborado de forma permanente con Phil Johnson-Laird y el grupo de modelos mentales. En la actualidad trabaja principalmente sobre las relaciones entre memoria operativa y procesos ejecutivos con la comprensión lectora y el razonamiento, desde una perspectiva tanto experimental como aplicada a la educación.

Submission format and instructions

Submissions will be accepted until the September 4 deadline.

Submissions will be accepted until the September 20th deadline. 

Proposals should include: Author information (name, affiliation, country, and email address for all authors, etc.), title, abstract, submission preference (spoken only, poster only, or any), language preference and appropriate topic areas for reviewing.

The Committee will review the proposals and make decisions on acceptance and format as well as arrangement into sessions.
Authors will be notified of submission decisions by 30th September.

Guidelines for Presentations

Spoken presentations

Each speaker will be given a total of 20 minutes for their presentation. Please, prepare a 15 minute talk and save the remaining 5 minutes for questions from the audience. Conference room will be equiped with a Windows computer. Please, save your presentation in PowerPoint format and bring it on a USB stick.

Posters

Please, prepare a poster in Portrait AO format (84 cm wide X 100 cm high).
